Gold repoussé quarter repeater by Jean Louis Argand

A very fine French 20 carat gold repoussé pair-cased quarter repeating verge pocket watch, circa 1765. Full plate movement, chain and fusee, two hammers, three-arm brass balance. Gold champlevé dial with Roman hours and outer Arabic five-minute numerals. Repoussé outer case, the back depicting the scene Telemach and Calypso, pierced band and outer border, engraved and chased volutes and scrollwork, the inner case has open work decoration around the edge, engraved volutes and scrollwork, a cartouche with engraved mascaron, rear bell, movement protection cap.
