–
A French gold enamel key winding pocket watch with repeating à toc and striking mechanism, made by Gilbert in Paris, around the late 18th century. Complemented by a later enamelled chatelaine. The signed and numbered movement is mechanical, with key winding, a verge escapement, a chased and pierced cock, a spiral balance, a spindle and chain, and a setting disc. The signed white enamel dial displays Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic numerals for the minutes, along with a minute track, square winding mechanism, and Louis XV style hands. The gold round case with a hinge has a bezel decorated with rhinestones, a back decorated with translucent blue enamel, halfpearls, and red stones, and includes an enamelled chatelaine with charms.
