A rare English silver pair-cased quarter repeating verge pocket watch, circa 1740. Full plate movement, chain and fusee, two barrels, two hammers, a bell, three-arm brass balance. White enamel dial with Roman hours, outer five-minute numerals and Louis XV hands. Silver, florally engraved and pierced outer case, the inner case is silver too, finely engraved and pierced with flower tendrils, a grotesque face and a maritime scene. Movement protection cap and movement signed.
