Rock crystal pocket watch by Cartier

An ultra flat and very elegant French/Swiss platinum, gold, enamel and rock crystal pocket watch, circa 1925. Bridge movement by European Watch & Clock Co. Inc., a piston tooth lever escapement and screw compensation balance. Two-tone silver plated guilloché dial, Arabic five minute numerals, outer minute divisions and decorative hands. The case is made of facet cut rock crystal, probably the engraved coat of arms of the Scottish Ewing clan on the back showing an upright lion with a star in its right paw, the black enamelled front bezel with gold Roman hours alternating with delicate small fleurettes. Dial signed Cartier, movement numbered and signed European Watch & Clock Co. Inc. Swiss, the case numbered twice.

It is a French jewellery house specializing in making very luxurious jewellery such as rings, bracelets, earrings, necklaces and watches.
