This coach clock was made in Friedberg, Germany, but for marketing reasons, the Friedberg watchmaker Joseph Spiegel translated his name into French and added Paris to his signature. In addition to Spiegel, there are 24 other watchmakers from Friedberg of that time whose names, translated or spelt backwards, can be found next to a false Paris, London or Augsburg.
