An as new Swiss 18 carat gold hunting cased precision watch made by Emile Perret in Le Locle, circa 1865. The key wind bridge movement with a rocker chronometer escapement, rose gold gear train and bimetallic chronometer balance. White enamel dial with Roman hour numerals, an outer minute track, sunk subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock and moon hands. An engine turned case with reeded band and maker’s mark AH. Dial signed, case numbered twice, cuvette and movement signed and numbered. Comes with an Extract from the Andreas Hiddings Chronometer database.

In 1867, this chronometer participated in the category “Pocket Chronometers” of the Neuchâtel Observatory’s chronometer competition, taking 18th place out of 48 chronometers.

The movement is barely untouched and in original condition. Its construction is almost identical to the pocket chronometers from Jules Jürgensen. In 1858, Jürgensen formed a partnership with Emile Perret, who supplied him with movements.
