A technically highly interesting early pocket watch with Grande Sonnerie and case with engraved coat of arms of the Russian Empire, made circa 1800. The open faced, numbered and coin edged case of this watch is crafted from 18 Carat gold and is engine turned on the back lid which has the Russian empire coat of arms engraved in the center. The white enamel dial has Arabic hour numerals and Breguet steel hands. The watch comes with a unique key, set with jewels, probably Russian. The watch is technically a masterpiece of the watchmaker’s art. The engraved coat of arms and the unusual key, indicate that the watch was probably made for the Russian Empire. Pocket watches with Grande Sonnerie are the greatest rarities among watches with striking movements. They are the most complicated early chiming movements ever!
