A very fine Swiss 18-carat gold and enamel hunting cased cylinder pocket watch, circa 1850. Made in the style of the early watches by Patek & Czapek. Bar movement, cylinder escapement. White enamel dial with Roman hours and outer minute divisions, filigree steel Breguet hands. Case with translucent dark blue enamel on both sides, reeded band and relief flowers at the rim, the front set with rose-cut diamonds, exquisite enamel work on the back, a pair of birds inlay in gold, finely chased and seated on an enamelled rose branch, case maker’s mark BF. Case numbered.
