–
A fine Swiss 18 carat yellow gold open faced demichronometer pocket watch made in Geneva, circa 1850. This watch has a mechanical crown winding movement with an anker escapement. The engraved and chased silvered dial shows black Roman numerals for the hours, elaborate floral motifs, a central gold leaf decoration, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and blued steel cathedral hands. The timepiece is housed in an 18 carat solid yellow gold open faced case, signed D&E inside. It features a hinged protective back cover engraved with the letter G within a floral motif, a fluted winding crown, and a sturdy round suspension bow.
