A fine Swiss 18 carat yellow gold open faced pocket watch, circa 1850. It has a mechanical key winding movement with a cylinder escapement, wound through apertures in the back cover. The white enamel dial displays elegant black painted Roman numerals for the hours, an outer minute track with Arabic five minute numerals from 5 to 60, and delicate gold hands. The timepiece is housed in a round three body 18 carat solid yellow gold open faced case. The back cover is beautifully guilloché and decorated with a central vacant cartouche framed by delicate scrollwork. It also features a fluted caseband, a sturdy round suspension bow, and a gold inner protective cuvette.
