A rare and very fine French 18 carat gold, enamel and pearl set open faced verge pocket watch with matching chatelaine, circa 1790. Verge movement. White enamel dial with Arabic numerals and original gold hands. Corresponding gold chatelaine with enamel plaque depicting a polychrome enamel soldier, with an original gold key for time setting and seal pendant. Case on both sides set with original Oriëntal half pearls, the back with en grisaille enamel painting showing lovers playing the lute, opening of the case by small push button in the pendant. Dial and movement signed.
