A Swiss 18 carat gold and enamel open faced Art Deco keyless pocket watch made by Patek Philippe in Geneva, circa 1923. Sold on August 18th, 1923. The gilt jewelled movement with a moustache lever escapement and wolf’s tooth winding. Gilt dial with Greek style Arabic hours, an outer minute track, subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock and blued steel Breguet hands. The engraved case decorated with black enamel and a snap-on back. Dial signed, case and movement signed and numbered. Comes with an Extract from the Archives.

Typical of the period, this Patek Philippe pocket watch displays every attribute one might associate with an early 20th Century watch, both inside and out. While almost entirely Art Deco in style, there are clear influences of Art Nouveau, especially in the enamel decoration of the bezel and bow.
