Gold keyless half hunting cased pocket watch with ensemble
–
A fine American 14 carat gold half hunter pocket watch with ensemble, made by American Watch Co. (Waltham, Mass.), circa 1880. The watch is powered by American Watch Co. (Waltham) Royal grade 3/4 plate gilded mechanical keyless winding movement, featuring a lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, and blued steel screws, signed A.M. Watch Co. / Royal / Waltham, Mass. The white enamel dial has black Roman numerals, an outer railway minute track, and blued steel spade hands.
–
It is housed in a 14 carat gold half hunter case with an outer blue enamel Roman numeral chapter ring surrounding a glazed aperture. The reverse cover is hand engraved with an armorial crest, an interlocking monogram, a stamped AB, and a motto scroll reading Nil Sistere Contra. The ensemble includes a 40 cm 18 carat gold link Albert chain with swivel clasps and a 9 carat gold mechanical retractable pencil by Sampson Mordan & Co.

–
Movement wound solid but not running. Wear to blue enamel on outer cover; front cover catch worn. Minor scratches, scuffs, and small dents on all components consistent with age.
–
This three piece set combines American horological volume manufacturing with premier English casing and silversmithing. The movement, a Royal grade produced by the American Watch Co. (Waltham, Mass.), was imported into Great Britain and cased in a high grade 14K gold half hunter case featuring the Latin heraldic motto Nil Sistere Contra (Nothing stands against us).
–
The ensemble includes a solid 18K gold Albert chain and an exceptional 9K gold mechanical retractable pencil made by Sampson Mordan & Co. in London (hallmarked 1928). Sampson Mordan patented the first mechanical pencil in 1822, and their gold pencils were prized luxury accessories during the Victorian, Edwardian, and interwar eras. The 1929 presentation inscription to R.S. – EAGC provides authentic historical provenance, preserving a complete personal pocket timepiece set from the 1920s.

Signed: A.M. Watch Co. Royal, Waltham, Mass.
