A fine, rare American 18 carat gold open faced half quarter repeating keyless lever pocket watch, circa 1880. Frosted gilt movement, 17 jewels, wolf’s tooth winding, lateral lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a slide on the band. Gold hinged cuvette. White enamel dial with unusual upright Arabic numerals, outer minute track and original blued steel spade hands. Case back engraved with a dog’s head crest above the motto Te Splendente. Case signed Tiffany & Co, reverse of dial indistinctly signed Waltham, Mass.
