A very fine and rare Swiss gold, painted on enamel and pearl set open faced centre seconds duplex pocket watch made for the Chinese market, circa 1860. Mirror polished, blued steel movement, Chinese caliber, 9 jewels, free standing barrel, duplex escapement, bimetallic compensation balance with blued steel wedge shaped weights, blued steel flat balance spring, index regulator. Spring loaded glazed gold rimmed cuvette fixed to the movement ring. White enamel dial with thin Roman numerals, outer minute and seconds divisions with Arabic 15 minute/seconds numerals, original blued steel pierced flower hands. The case back painted on enamel with a bouquet of roses, peonies, poppies and cornflowers, translucent royal blue enamel ground over wavy line engine turning, pearl set bezels, pendant and bow.
