A fine Swiss 18 carat yellow gold open faced pocket watch, circa 1860. It has a mechanical key winding movement with a cylinder escapement, wound and set through apertures in the back cover. The white enamel dial shows black Roman numerals for the hours, an outer minute track with Arabic five minute numerals from 5 to 60, and steel hands. The timepiece is housed in a round 18 carat solid yellow gold open faced case. The reverse back cover is finely engine turned and decorated with a hand engraved central star motif framed by ornate foliate scrolls. It has a smooth caseband, a spherical pendant with a sturdy suspension bow, and a solid 18 carat gold inner protective cuvette.
