A fine and rare English gold pair cased two-train verge clock watch with gilt and shagreen outer case, circa 1725. Gilt full plate movement, baluster pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, three-armed steel balance with flat balance spring, finely pierced and engraved balance-cock and backplate furniture, the cock with small streamers, silver regulation dial, engraved fixed barrel for the striking train, striking the hours with a single hammer on a bell in the back of the case, strike/silent lever protruding from the bezel. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, outer minute track and outermost Arabic five-minute numerals, original blued steel beetle and poker hands. Gilt metal outer case overlaid with shagreen and with pique decoration, gold inner case, deep back, polished bezel, the band very finely pierced and engraved with inhabited foliage and a grotesque mask, loose ring pendant, gilt brass dust cover. Movement signed and numbered.
