A fine and unusual Swiss 18 carat gold, enamel and diamond-set folding lorgnette with concealed watch, circa 1850. Movement 18 x 30 mm, shaped, gilt-brass bar calibre, eight jewels, cylinder escapement, plain gilt-brass three-arm balance, steel flat balance spring, index regulator. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, outer minute track, set in gold plate with winding, setting and regulating apertures and original blued steel spade hands. Spring-loaded front cover decorated with a diamond-set pattern on translucent imperial blue guilloché enamel ground, back and handle engraved with foliage against an engine-turned background. Movement numbered.
