A fine and rare French 18 carat gold open faced verge pocket watch with calendar, circa 1790. Matte gilt full plate movement, Ø 48 mm, cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, three-arm balance, flat balance spring, pierced and chased continental balance clock with polished steel endplate, silver regulation dial. An eccentric white enamel dial with Arabic hours, outer star minute divisions with Arabic quarter-hour numerals, a calendar dial opposite, a polychrome enamel background showing a scene of young lovers by an urn in an arcadian landscape, gold Breguet hands. Polished case. Case numbered.
