A fine Swiss 18 carat gold open faced keyless lever pendant watch made for the American market, circa 1899. Retailed by J.E. Caldwell & Co, Philadelphia, U.S.A. Rhodium-plated movement, Geneva Striping decoration, 17 jewels, wolf’s tooth winding, straight-line lever escapement, adjusted cut bimetallic compensation balance with blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator. Hinged gold cuvette with an engraved dedication. White enamel dial with Arabic hours, outer minute divisions, subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock and gilt Louis hands. Polished case, the back with the engraved monogram ECR. Dial signed J.E. Caldwell & Co, movement numbered and signed Vacheron & Constantin Genève, case numbered and signed J.E. Caldwell & Co. Accompanied by a Certificate of Origin.
