A fine and rare Swiss 18 carat gold, enamel and pearl-set open faced verge pocket watch, circa 1790. Hinged, gilt-brass full plate movement with turned pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement with micrometric potence adjustment, plain brass three-arm balance, continental cock with polished steel endplate, silvered regulation dial. White enamel dial with Arabic numerals, outer minute divisions and Arabic fifteen-minute numerals, later gilt fancy hands. Louis XVI case, the back finely painted on enamel depicting Rinaldo & Armida flanking a white, gold and blue paillon urn in a landscape, Royal blue guilloché background, pearl-set border and bezel, engraved band.
