A very fine French 18 carat gold and enamel open faced dumb quarter repeating verge pendant watch, circa 1785. Frosted gilt full plate movement, cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, three-arm brass balance with flat balance spring, continental cock with polished steel endplate, silver regulation scale, repeating à toc activated by depressing the pendant. White enamel dial with Arabic numerals, outer minute divisions and Arabic 15-minute numerals, winding aperture at 2, partially replaced gilt beetle and poker hands. Louis XVI case with concealed hinge, the bezel decorated with Royal blue and white enamel, the back with translucent Royal blue guilloché enamel and gold paillon scale decoration, outer border to match the bezel. Dial and movement signed. Accompanied by a gold and enamel crank key.
