A gentleman’s very fine, unique and large quarter repeating pocket watch with verge escapement and Jacquemart “à quatre couleur”, circa 1820. 18K gold case, tiered, à goutte, the back lid with punched and engraved four-coloured gold gures depicting Diana, the goddess of the hunt and Venus, the goddess of love. Enamel dial, Arabic numerals, octagonal section with 2 bell-ringing gold gures “à quatre couleur” against an engine-turned and cobalt-
blue enamelled background with engraved gold foliage, on the left a torch-bearing putto, on the right the personi cation of science, orally engraved border, blued Breguet hands. Full plate movement, keywind, regilt, applied engraved ornaments, 2 hammers, 2 gongs, chain/ fusee, ring balance.
