A fine French 18 carat gold quarter repeating pocket watch with automaton jacks made by Breguet in Paris, circa 1820. Quarter-repeater on two steel gongs, activated by depressing the pendant. An automaton goat and a hidden, concealed erotic automaton. Engine turned silver dial, varicoloured gold and painted blackamoor jack, aperture below 6 o’clock a varicoloured gold goat amongst vines on a blued steel plate, the goat nodding its head during repeating, a bolt at 4 slides the goat panel and discloses the erotic automaton of a couple on a bed. Roman numerals with blued steel hands in the center. A gilt brass, full plate movement with cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain brass three arm balance with flat balance spring, gilt brass continental cock, repeating on gongs activated by depressing the pendant. Signature on the movement.
