A fine French 18 carat gold and enamel open faced key wound verge pocket watch, circa 1790. Hinged gilt verge movement. White enamel dial with Arabic numerals and gold hands. Directoire type case, polychrome champlevé enamel decorated bezel and pendant, the back centred by a painted on enamel polychrome scene of a shepherdess on a translucent blue enamel background over sunray engine turning, pearl-set frame, outer foliate white enamel decoration. Case numbered, dial signed, movement signed and numbered.
