A fine French 18K gold and enamel open faced key-wind verge pocket watch, circa 1790. A polychrome enamel European scene on the case back depicting two people drinking from a fountain in the form of a lion next to a river surrounded by a white enamel gold decorated border, a blue enamelled bezel and engraved band. White enamel dial with Arabic hours, outer minute divisions with Arabic fifteen-minute numerals, winding aperture at 2 o’clock and gold beetle & poker hands. A frosted gilt movement, fusee and chain, verge escapement, three-arm brass balance, flat balance spring, continental balance cock with polished steel endplate, silver regulation dial. Dial and movement signed.
