A very fine Swiss, 18K yellow gold, hunting cased, keyless pocket chronometer with Jaquet & Gérard inversed pivoted detent escapement, circa 1905. Made for the Russian market. A polished band, engine-turned covers with polished borders. Hinged gold cuvette. White enamel dial with Breguet numerals, outer minute divisions, subsidiary seconds. Gold hands with blued steel quatrefoil tips. A frosted gilt movement, 15 jewels, pivoted detent chronometer escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with peripheral timing screws, blued steel helical balance spring, swan-neck micrometre regulator. Case and cuvette signed.

Johann Heinrich Moser (1805-1874) was a Swiss watchmaker, son of a clockmaker, he moved to St. Petersburg circa 1827, where he opened a watch business (Nevskii Prospect and Malaya Konyushennaya St.). He had also a branch in Moscow from 1827 to 1874, on Ilinka St. In 1874 his son Henry Moser, Jr. took over the business.
