An early English 20k gold double-cased repoussé pocket watch, circa 1730. By an interesting provincial maker. Accompanied by a key. Outer case: repoussé, the case back depicting a musical scene, border with repoussé foliate scrolls, the bezel decorated to match. Inner case: plain, polished with split bezel. Gold dial with Roman hour and Arabic five-minute numerals. Outer minute divisions, repousse central cartouche and blued steel beetle-and-poker hands. GiIt-brass, full-plate movement with scroll pierced Egyptian pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement with plain three-arm steel balance and flat balance spring. Large-eared balance cock pierced and engraved with inhabited foliage. Signed on the dial and movement.
