An English 18 carat gold open faced minute repeating pocket watch with early keyless winding, circa 1860. Frosted gilt bar movement with English lever escapement, bi-metal split compensation balance, Breguet overcoil hairspring, train jewelled to the third wheel, polished hammers repeat on two gongs.
White enamel dial with black Roman numerals bordered by outer minute track, subsidiary seconds at six o’clock, blue steel spade hands.
Plain case with sliding repeat and hand set governors located to the band, case maker’s mark I.H of John Hammon. Movement signed Viner, Sackville Street, London, dial signed Viner, London.
