Rare gold English agate quarter repeating verge watch with chatelaine

A rare English gold and agate quarter repeating verge en suite with chatelaine and etui, circa 1760, gilt full plate verge movement, signed, pierced and engraved balance cock, repeating on a bell, signed and numbered dust cap.
White enamel dial, Roman and Arabic numerals, pierced and engraved inner case, outer agate case with engraved decoration, matching agate chatelaine with chased and engraved decoration depicting Mars and Venus, chains suspending agate set crank key and blackamoor seal, the etui suspended from a matching gold and agate set chatelaine hung with two timbles, the etui containing scissors, mirror, ivory memorandum slip, folding knife, tweezers combined with file, pencil holder and bodkin combined with snuff spoon.

Charles Cabrier is recorded as a master of the Clockmaker’s Company between 1757-72. Examples of his work can be found in the Guild Hall Museum, London Museum and the Metropolotan Museum of Art, New York. A fine agate and diamond set watch and chatelaine by Cabrier can be found in the Mathematische Physikalische Salon, Dresden.
