Silver verge in pair cases
–
An early and very fine pair cased verge pocket watch made by John Newson in London, England, circa 1740.  The case from this watch was crafted from silver and it has a champlevé silver dial with Roman hour numerals, Arabic five minute numerals in cartouches and iron hands. The numbered movement has a very early English verge escapement and a worm screw.
The case and movement have matching numbers, and the dial and movement are signed.
