Gold enamel pocket watch with pearls
–
An exceptionally fine and extremely rare gold enamel hunting cased pocket watch with pearls, probably made for the Chinese market, circa 1800. This exquisite 18 Carat gold watch has a full hunting case, is enamelled on both sides and is set with half pearls, giving it an exceptional beauty and rarity. The dial is exceptionally beautiful, with engine turned decoration and rose gold Breguet hands that add to the watch’s overall elegance. The coin edge and full plate movement with cylinder escapement are further examples of the watchmaker’s attention to detail. The drive is via chain and fusee, a traditional method of power transmission in pocket watches.
