A very rare, extremely flat gold, enamel open faced French pocket watch with Bagnolet calibre, circa 1840. Only 6.5 mm thick, without glass; only 4.5 mm thick.
Extremely fine, super flat Bagnolet cylinder movement, wonderful floral decoration. 18K gold case, splendid engine-turned and partially enamelled (partially abrasion of the enamel), case number 77065, MT master’s mark. Unusual silver-plated dial, signed Le Hardy Horloger Palais Royal, Roman radial hours, outer minutes track, and filigree Breguet hands.
