Gold chatelaine watch

A fine French 18 carat varicoloured gold open faced keyless ladies’ pendant watch,
circa 1880. Comes with a chatelaine and the original fitted leather covered velvet lined presentation box. The case with a chased stiff leaf bezel, polished band, and applied relief decoration on the back depicting a basket of flowers and a bird on a matted ground. The matching chatelaine is decorated with a varicoloured flower and trophies.

Hinged gold cuvette. White enamel dial with black Roman hours, an outer minute track, outermost red Arabic five minute numerals and gold Louis XV hands. The frosted gilt bar caliber movement is fitted with 15 jewels, wolf’s tooth winding, a cylinder escapement, plain three arm flat rim balance, blued steel flat balance spring and an index regulator. Cuvette signed.
