Pocket watch with jumping hour and centre seconds
–
An 18 Carat gold and enamel pocket watch with jumping hour and centre second, crafted for the Chinese market, probably, by Breguet in Paris, France, circa 1820. This watch boasts a half hunter case made of 18 Carat gold with magnificent enamel work. The small engine-turned dial is made of silver has jumping hours in combination with centre seconds and a rotating minute ring, both very rare complications for watches of its time.
The movement has a flat cylinder escapement. Dust cover signed.

Even if the watch is signed Breguet and watches of this type with Breguet signatures and Le Roy signatures are also known, it cannot be proven that the watch came from the Breguet workshops. In any case, however, it is a very fine quality with an extremely rare combination of complications, which was only produced in very small numbers for the Chinese market.
