Gold and enamel open faced pocket watch

An excellently preserved gold and enamel pocket watch, probably made in Paris, France, circa 1820. The open faced, extra flat case of this watch was crafted from 18 carat gold, has very fine enamel decoration on the back, bears case maker’s mark AR and the French 18K gold hallmark Paris 1819-1838. The decentralized engine turned dial has black Roman hour numerals, outer minute divisions and rosé gold moon hands. The extra flat movement has a Lépine caliber with a cylinder escapement.
