A French very fine Breguet gold hunting cased minute repeater, with original box, circa 1880.
18 carat gold, “à goutte” hunting case with case maker’s punch JL, spring lid with gold monogram PE for Paul Engler, dome signed and numbered. Exquisite precision lever movement with repeating hours, quarters and minutes. White enamel dial, hour chapter ring with Roman numerals, sunk subsidiary dial for the seconds with Arabic numerals, outer minute track with Arabic numerals, blued Breguet hands. Dome with dedication “COMPAGNIE FRANCO ALGERIENNE”, Monsier Paul Engler 1881, engineer of “COMPAGNIE FRANCO ALGERIENNE” – SFA.
