Fine Breguet pocket watch with repeater

A rare fine Breguet lépine type watch with off center dial and repeater, made by Leroy, in Paris, circa 1820. This half hunter cased pocket watch with Hallmark FM 965 was crafted from 18 carat gold, is engine turned on the front and back lid and has a cartouche on the latter with the Leroy hallmark (an L crossed with a crown). The small decentralized engine turned dial has black Roman numerals, blued hands and is placed at six o’clock on the engine turned face. The rare caliber movement has a cylinder escapement and a quarter hour repeater.

Le Roy
Le Roy or Leroy was a famous maker from Paris who went to Constantinople around 1810 to represent Abraham-Louis Breguet on the Ottoman market. He also imported watches from Swiss makers and sold them to the leading dignitaries.
