This is following the stay in Paris in 1814 of Alexander I (1777-1825), Emperor of Russia (1801-1825) and King of Poland (1815-1825) and his visit to the workshops of Abraham-Louis Breguet (1847-1823), as well as a lunch between the Tsar and the old master (then aged 67), which the latter decides to have a permanent representative in Russia, in the person of Mr. Wenham (probably George), an English born watchmaker. He was active there for Maison Breguet until the 1830’s.
