A fine French 18 carat red gold open faced pocket watch, made by Breguet in Paris, circa 1895. Sold on 25 June 1896 to J. Daix for 500 Francs, as confirmed by the Breguet archives. This watch features a crown wind mechanical movement with a lever escapement, a spiral compensating balance with ruby jewels, and an advance/delay adjustment ratchet, signed and numbered Breguet on the gold caseback. The white enamel dial is signed and displays Roman numerals for the hours, Arabic numerals for the minutes, an outer minute track, a subsidiary seconds dial, and original steel hands in the characteristic Breguet style. The round 18 carat red gold case features a hinged back engraved with personal initials. The gold cuvette is signed and numbered Breguet No. 2215.
