–
A decorative, French gold and enamel verge pocket watch studded with half pearls, made for the Ottoman market, circa 1810.
The backside of this gold case is decorated with gold paillon stars on a translucent dark-green enamelled ground over engine-turning, it has a central granulated rosette set with ruby cabochons and half pearls, and the bezels and the case band are studded with split pearls. The dial is enamel with Ottoman numerals and open-work filigree gold hands. And the full plate movement is extra thin, keywind, fire gilt and signed, with chain/fusee, circular pillars, verge escapement, three-arm brass balance and a fine florally engraved and pierced balance bridge.
