Gold open faced verge watch with polychrome enamel

A French 18 carat yellow gold open faced quarter repeating pocket watch made by Mallet in Paris, circa 1775. This watch features a cock movement with verge escapement, an escapement wheel, and a chain and fusee, with a toc hour and quarter repeater on demand. The white enamel dial displays painted Arabic numerals for the hours, outer minute dots with Arabic fifteen minute numerals, and gilt decorative hands. The round 18 carat yellow gold case features a caseback decorated with polychrome enamel scales on a guilloché background. The bezel is accented with demi pearls. Accompanied by an 18 carat gold and metal winding key, also decorated with polychrome enamel scales.
