A remarkable French 18 carat gold double sided mock pendulum cylinder pocket watch with a compass and animated scene from the Garden of Eden The Temptation, circa 1810. Full plate movement, cylinder escapement, engraved adjusting regulator scale, chain and fusee.
White enamel front, partly polychrome painted, a silver engine turned reverse, compass with enamel dial, window with very finely engraved balance bridge and mock pendulum, the striking front has an hour ring with Roman numerals at 6 o’clock, a serpent revolves in one minute around the separate polychrome enamel medallion at twelve o’clock showing Adam & Eve and the fall of mankind.
