Open faced pocket watch by Louis Mallet

A fine, thin French gold enamel pocket watch with matching gold enamel chatelaine and original silk lined red Morocco case, of a French noble family, circa 1820.
Gold enamel case, with a scalloped border and signed gold dome, is entirely decorated with polychrome champlevé enamel florets against an opaque black enamelled background. Matching gold enamel chatelaine with pocket watch key and pendant with crest and motto of the French noble family Bernard de Montessus: PUGNAT, VIGILAT (fighting, awaking), length 95 mm. Eccentric silver dial with an engine turned centre, inlaid Roman numerals and Breguet hands. Bridge movement, key wind, frosted, gilt, with going barrel, cylinder escapement and three arm brass balance.
