Elegant open faced gentleman’s pocket watch

An elegant and thin gold enamel French gentleman’s pocket watch with virgule escapement, circa 1810. The watch features an 18K gold engine-turned case with a translucent cobalt blue enamelled back lid, and split pearls set on the edges. The enamel dial has Roman numerals and cathedral hands. The full plate movement is fire-gilt, key-wound, lavishly engraved with floral motifs, and has a three-arm brass balance.
