Important gold cylinder watch

An important, very fine French pocket watch with ruby cylinder in manner of Breguet, possibly made in the workshops of Breguet, Breguet’s student Hauchar, circa 1810. An 18K pink gold, reeded mid-section, on the back faded noble coat of arms, letters L.H.S below, case maker’s punch Tavernier, Hauchar-number 104 and additionally the number 2649(Breguet?), dome signed and numbered, exquisite precision movement with “hanging” Breguet ruby cylinder, temperature compensation and golden balance wheel, very fine quality, signed and numbered, enamel dial, blued Breguet steel hands, case, movement and dial signed, numbered again under the dial, very beautiful condition.

This mysterious watch is a dream piece for collectors of Breguet’s fine watches and pieces of his students. Hardly any Hauchar watches are known so far, which could mean that this watch was possibly made during his time at Breguet. The similarity of the caliber to Breguet No.674 “Simple Nouveau Calibre” from the year 1809 is unmistakable, see illustrated movement of the 674.
