A French 18 carat gold open faced quarter repeating Empire verge pocket watch, circa 1810. Nicely engraved backplate, gilt brass quality movement with fusee and chain, verge escapement, key winding, blued regulation disc, gilt-brass balance, blued steel flat hairspring, pierced and engraved gilded continental bridge cock, a round polished steel coqueret end-piece, the repeater work on the main plate under the dial repeating the quarter hours on two steel gongs activated by depressing the pendant.
Dail with white enamel chapter ring with Breguet hours, outer minute divisions and blued steel Breguet hands. Guilloché and sunray case back, and cartouche with the name Matthes. Empire band. Gilt metal cuvette. Movement and cuvette signed: Breguet & Fils.
