Fine decorated “repoussé” open faced pocket watch by Cardinaux

A French very fine pair cased verge pocket watch with quarter hour self-strike and “repoussé” decoration for the Ottoman market, circa 1810.
Two cases: outer case – 18 carat gold “à quatre couleurs”, “repoussé”, the back side with armament, a saber, a cannon and other military instruments, the border on the front and back side with flower heads and foliate decoration, à goutte, large lateral hinge; inner case – gold, pierced and hand-engraved foliate decor, slide to set “STRIKE/SILENT”, rear bell. White enamel dial with radial Ottoman numerals and gold “Poker & Beetle” hands. Firegilt, keywind and signed full plate movement, with finely engraved foliate decoration, chain/fusee, 2 hammers, moulded movement pillars, three-arm brass balance and very finely florally engraved pierced balance cock.
