Very rare gold verge with calendar, 24-hour dial, trip repetition and self strike
–
A large gold French verge watch of the greatest rarity, 24-hour dial, full calendar, trip repeater and self strike, around 1810. Full plate gilt movement.
White enamel dial with Arabic numerals, blued steel Breguet hands, three subsidiary dials for, date, month, and day.
Finely engine-turned on the back, cartridge with noble coat of arms monogram, This watch probably belonged to a high ecclesiastical person, such as a cardinal because a miter is depicted in the monogram as well the letters EM (Eminence).
The clock is with a good calendar function. Trip repetition is triggered by pressing the tiny button in the pendant, slide in the band for silence and striking. The combination of a full calendar, 24-hour dial, repeater and self strike in a gold spindle watch from around 1800 is sensationally rare.
