Oignon in leather-covered case
–
A French verge oignon in a leather-covered case with Fleur-de-Lys decoration, circa 1710. The timepiece features a full plate fire gilt fusee movement, supported by slender Egyptian pillars. Its intricate details include a gilt pierced and engraved bridge cock, a three-arm steel balance with spiral blue steel hairspring, and a small silver regulator disc.
The gilt dial is embellished with white hour cartouches displaying Roman numerals, while outer five-minute cartouches feature Arabic numerals and blue steel hands. The timepiece is wound through the gilt dial. The case is covered with later leather, and the movement bears the maker’s signature. In excellent condition.
